The PTA funds many programs that
provide Educational Support and Enrichment Opportunities for
all 340 students at Stevens School.
How we raise the money to support our programs:
1) Annual Fund: contact
Chris Clements
Each fall we hold a major fund drive to support the PTA operating
budget by simply asking for support from all our families
and community members. With the help of a dedicated parent
team of envelope stuffers, letters are sent to parents,
friends, neighbors, relatives and alumni.
2) Holiday Tree Sale/Community
Breakfast: contact
Erika Grayson
for Tree Sale; and Susan
Goubert for Community Breakfast
On December 5,
2009, the PTA will host a sale of holiday decorations,
including trees, greenery, and Hannukah or Kwanzaa candles,
as well as a very popular Pancake Breakfast for the
community. Parent volunteers help sell items and flip
pancakes!
3) Jump-a-thon: Contact
Michelle Weller
Stevens’ students gather pledges from family, friends, and
neighbors for a fun and active fundraiser that keeps the
winter blahs away! Every student in the school participates
to see how many consecutive turns of the jump-rope they can
jump. The date is January 28, 2010
4) Stevens
Auction:
contact Barb Chin
Mark your calendar for the evening of May 1, 2010 for
the annual Stevens Auction! This event, in addition to being
a major fundraiser for the PTA, is a whole lot of fun - it's
our only chance to get together and have a grownup party
with other Stevens parents and friends. Dinner & drinks will
be served, and you'll be able to bid on items in every price
range. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact
this year’s auction co-chairs Barb Chin, Katie Ohtake, Misha
Jammal or Arpana Goel.
5) DonorsChoose.org
is a web site that provides public schools with
resources that are often lacking. Our Stevens teachers can
submit project proposals for materials or experiences their
students need in order to learn. Citizen Philanthropists
from anywhere in the U.S. choose projects to fund and the
materials are sent directly to our teachers. We have had 13
projects funded in less than a year! You can become a
Citizen Philanthropist, too. Go to
www.donorschoose.org
and do a search by Stevens Elementary, Seattle to see
what projects we have submitted and choose to fund one in
part, or in whole! |
